Im super excited! Last friday I went to radiostation BNR, for an interview together with the famous shoedesigner Jan Jansen! We talked about our shared passion; shoes!

The interview was broadcasted at saturday the 29th of November,

How great was the 3th episode of Hollands Next Top Model 2011 with my shoes!

The models really rocked them, even though the catwalk was 5 meters high and the weather extremely dutch (read; terrible)!

Older News:
The styling team of a big artist contacted me,
if I could send over some of my shoes for the fotoshoot of a new album.
They will not be shown at the cover, but it was already a great and big honor
and I'm proud that they even considered my work!
I'll continue making great shoes!

This is the whole designproces for the shoes for Janneke Verhoeven! I created 8 pairs, by hand! Janneke's collection will be showed together with my shoes on the fashion week in Paris and Milan! The next pictures give you a small impression of the designprocess and the final result!

This is my "bunker experiment".
I "bunkered" existing shoes, by building around it with cardboard.
By doing that, some interesting shapes appeired.
I used those shapes for my final shoecollection.

3 of my design for HUB-Footwear are choosen for their fall-winter collection 2009/2010 and are made in a shoefactory in Portugal and Italy. The shoes are now instores, at all Invito stores in the Netherlands!

Agenda.

Miriam is a busy girl! Check out her hectic agenda and find out where she and her shoes will be in the next period!

- January 29th: Miriam will show her shoes at the AMsterdam Fashion Week during MTV's Valtifashion.
- February 9th: Miriam's shoes will be published by the magazine ESTA.
- March 7th: Miriam's shoes will be published by the shoemagazine Step Magazine in Germany.
- March 9th: Miriam will be guest speaking at the Artez Honours Programme about Fashion and Postmodernism.
- March 26th: Miriam is asked to be a judge for the fashion department of Kunstbende 2011.
- March 31th: Miriams shoes will be showed during the exhibition at the clogmuseum in Eelde. You can visit this exhibition untill November 2011.
- April 10th: Miriam has her very own solo exhibition at the Shoemuseum, Waalwijk. You can visit this great exhibtion till June 5th.
- May 5th: Miriam has her own shoedesign show at the LiberationFestival in Zwolle. Go visit the show at the studentertainment area, at 20:45.
- May 19th: Miriam wil be guest speaking at the second exhibition of BAGSHOES in Zwolle. Her designs will also be showed during this exhibition.
- July: Miriam will graduate as first degree teacher Education in Art, cum laude, at ArtEZ high school of art Zwolle.
- July: Fashion label Studio Ruig used Miriams shoes for their fashion shoot, pictures will follow.
- September: Miriam's shoes were used during the 3th episode of Hollands Next Top Model 2011. Not only the models but also catwalkqueen Mariana Verkerk rocked Miriam's shoes!
- September: Miriam started with a new job as fashiondesign and stling teacher at Landstede, Zwolle.
-October 16th: Miriams shoes are used by hairdesigner Margriet Peschar, who is runner up for the L’Oréal Professionnel Color Trophy. The event was held in Carre Amsterdam, and hosted by Sylvie van der Vaart.
- October 28th: Miriam will visit radio BNR Amsterdam to join an interview by Bas Westerweel, together with Jan Jansen. They will talk about their shared passion; Shoes!
- October 29th: BNR will broadcast the radio interview with Jan Jansen and Miriam van Weeghel at 12:00 o'clock.

At March 2009 Hub presented their new Fall/Winter 09/10 collection at the Caballero Factory in Den Haag, with my three designs! It was above all my expectations! They had become such fabulous shoes... All my designs were also shown during the examexhibition in Arnhem.

I took these snapshots during the frans molenaar award 2008.
Check out all the models on my shows! and for the good watchers, at the front row behind in all white clothes you will see famous shoe designer Jan Jansen watching my shoes :D.

I talked to him backstage, and he told me he liked my designs and "to keep on going"!

well... There is no question about that!

I designed and created these two shoes for fashion designer Elsien Gringhuis. I created 7 pairs in different colours (grey, white and black.)

These are the first collages I made.
As u can see in the next pictures, I basicly used the pointed front for the wooden underpart of the shoe.

These are pictures of a form study in a simple fabric. Later I translated these formstudys into shoes.

And then... suddenly (I will not mention 4 weeks of woodshaping) 9 pairs of shoes were walking on the catwalk!

I find the underwaterworld with al its colours, unknown animals and shapes amazing. In these shoes I tried to use those fascinating colours and shapes. The results is fresh, brightfully coloured and expressive.

The summer of 2008 was a remarkable one! My shoes were shown at almost 11 shows all over Europe. I even talked to Jan Jansen during the Frans Molenaar Award, at the IFWA 08. He told me to "keep on going" and that's exactly what I'm going to do!

These are some collages i made by cutting out interesting parts of fishes and then start to assemble them. It gives great unexpected silhouetes !

These are some experimental 3d models. I love to translate drawings and collages to paper cut models. Shoes are so 3d, you cant just draw your ideas: in a model you can find the opportunitie to really work "around" "the shoes.

Who doesn't love a fabulous knot? I designed this wooden shoe in the second year. I paid lot of attention to the wooden undershape and also to the pattern design wich I printed bij hand on a lovely soft, cotton fabric. This shoe represents for me the essence of the real summer fealing.

Arnhem graduation shows 2008

These pictures were taken during the Arnhem Graduation Show 2008. It was the first show where i saw my shoes actually "walking". I designed 9 pair of shoes and finished them in the summerholiday. A lot of work, but is was worth it! Before the shows i was very nervous. I was wondering if my shoes were solid enough and if they would survive 6 shows. Fortunately I was backstage during the shows, to help the models putting on my shoes, and to repair shoes if necessary. It were two hectic days, but I learned a lot. It was the best experience i've had during my study.

The clothes are designed by Elsien Gringhuis, Graduation Student from the fashion department in Arnhem. I designed a collection of 8 shoes, specially for her collection. These shoes were worn during this fashion show.
